Millions of inhabitants in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia also use French as their principal international language. In many creole-speaking communities, standard French is used in formal situations.
French is also widely used in international organizations, diplomacy, and cultural exchanges. It is one of the official languages of the United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, and the International Olympic Committee, among others.
