Having a job in France can help you integrate into French society. There are different ways to access employment:
As an employee: you may be offered a permanent contract (CDI), a fixed-term contract (CDD), or be registered with a temporary employment agency (which responds to punctual needs of employers).
As a self-employed individual, by creating your own business or commercial activity.
During your personalized interview with the OFII auditor, you can express your wish to look for a job and get information on the subject. You will attend a mandatory civic training day called “Living and Accessing Employment in France,” during which you will receive information to clarify your professional project and identify the relevant organizations to contact, as well as the necessary procedures to undertake.
Indeed, it is up to you to undertake the necessary steps in your job search. You can reach out to your personal network (family, friends, acquaintances) and existing professional social networks that will help you enhance your professional background, develop your contacts, etc.
You can also contact Pôle Emploi, which is responsible for receiving, informing, orienting and accompanying people looking for employment or training. You can also contact a mission locale if you are under 26 years old, or a “Cap emploi” if you have a disability.
Before beginning your job search, make sure you have all the necessary documents prepared: curriculum vitae (CV), cover letter, diplomas, employer attestations, etc.
Registration with Pôle Emploi is only done online. In case of material or technical difficulties (if you do not have a computer, you do not know how to fill out your application), you can contact Pôle emploi by calling 3949 or by going to the nearest Pôle emploi agency.
Go to the website www.pole-emploi.fr, then click on “candidate”:
Before beginning your registration, make sure you have your residence permit, your social security card, a CV, and your work certificates from the last 4 years.
Click on the “register / re-register” link,
Fill out “your situation”,
Complete your online registration form and print it out.
At the end of the online registration, a personalized diagnostic interview will be proposed to you. You must attend this meeting with all the supporting documents indicated on the summary of your online registration.
Job offers on the Pôle Emploi website are accessible without prior registration.
You can also register with temporary employment agencies that can offer you temporary job assignments.
